History of Merrifield’s
In August of 1981, with only $10,000 and a beat up old hippie van, Loran Merrifield started a business with two folding tables stacked with some pencils, pens, and paper. That day, he hit the pavement to find some customers.

This commitment to entrepreneurship and personal initiative started the great tradition that has propelled Merrifield’s two decades of growth based on serving each customer excellently.

1981 Loran Merrifield starts at Enid, Oklahoma.
1982 Brothers Stan and Joe Merrifield join corporation.
1986 Ponca City Merrifield store opens.
1987 Merrifield’s moves to 202 E. Broadway in Enid, Oklahoma.
1989 Alva Merrifield store opens.
1991 Stillwater Merrifield store opened at 7th and Husband
1994 Stillwater store moves to 614 S. Main
2003 Ponca City Store moves to 206 E. Grand
2006 Stillwater Store moves to 616 S. Main

Today Merrifield’s employs 45 people at four locations across northern and western Oklahoma.

Far-western Oklahoma is served by the Elk city Merrifield store owned and operated by Darrell Merrifield brother of Loran Merrifield.
